Child Dental Benefits Schedule

Mountain Gate Dental in Ferntree Gully enthusiastically supports this program and encourages parents to make full use of it because good dental care habits formed during childhood are likely to benefit your child for life.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) commenced on 1 January 2014 and provides access to benefits for basic dental services to children aged 2-17 years.

The total benefit entitlement is capped at $1,095 per child over a two calendar year period. The CDBS has a means test, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or a relevant Australian Government payment. Simply ring us with your Medicare Card number ready and we can give you an indication of your entitlement.

The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.

You can confirm your child’s eligibility and balance amount by accessing your Medicare online account at my.gov.au or by calling the Medicare general enquiries line on 132 011.

Please let us know if your child is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule when you book an appointment.
